Outfit of the Day – Sheer Stripes

This is an outfit I wore when me and my boyfriend went for a walk around Bradgate Park in Leicestershire ( a pretty place with A LOT of deer). I’m loving the weather at the moment as it’s getting pretty warm now, enough to get away with no coat. Though, I did put a little jacket on when I went outside as it was chilly in the shade.

I’m wearing my ASOS side split t-shirt, which is longer in the back and under that a stripey crop top from Topshop. I love layering pieces of clothing and the Topshop top is very sheer so I needed something to cover me up! I’m then wearing the most comfy black high waisted jeans from Primark. These are very similar and in my opinion BETTER than the American Apparel Easy Jean and they were only £10!

On my face I went for simple make up, which I do everyday. I’m wearing Revlon’s Nearly Naked foundation with the Bourjois Java Rice powder. I’ve contoured, highlighted and blushed with the Sleek Face Form kit and used the HD eyebrow kit for my brows and Maybelline’s Plush mascara. I went for the au naturel look on my lips and just used the pink baby lips!

What’s in my travel toiletry bag?

At the moment I’m staying at my boyfriends parents house in Leicester (that’s why I’ve been a little m.i.a recently) and obviously I needed to bring a toiletry bag! I thought it would be fun to share the things I’ve brought with me as I’ve never done one of these posts.

First up, the dreaded make up wipes! I know these are bad for your skin but sometimes they are just the most practical things to take away with you! I picked these up in a Tesco before I went – they aren’t the best I’ve tried, but they aren’t dreadful either. I’ve actually been using them to give my make up brushes a quick clean now and again too (but that’s another story..). To carry on with the make up removing theme, I brought my mini Bioderma with me, which actually has the Garnier micellar solution in as I’ve already finished up the Bioderma. I brought this as I knew my skin would want a pick me up from all those make up wipes, but I didn’t fancy carrying a massive 400ml bottle of the Garnier stuff with me. To accompany that I also brought some cotton wool pads and make up buds.

In my little owl container is a big secret, which I’m going to blog about in the next few weeks, but let’s just say it’s something from the kitchen you put on your face! For face washes, I brought my Korres White Tea gel cleanser, which I’ve been loving lately and my trusty old Murad acne cleanser. I usually use a make up wipe to get most of my make up off, then go in with the Korres cleanser to get any residue off and then for extra measures I use the Murad one to make sure my face is clean. I also give a once over with my Lush Tea Tree toner in the night and in the morning for a pick me up. I’ve brought along my Anatomicals spot stick too as it’s great for getting rid of any pesky spots I have sprouted during the night.

I’ve also taken along my holy grail moisturiser – Garnier Moisture Match. This stuff is so amazing, sinks in so fast and really does the job. I also chucked in a Vichy face serum sample I got in a glossybox, which I’m really liking, however, there isn’t much product. Lastly, I have my Nivea eye cream, which I use to stop any crease lines around my eyes (maybe I’m ageing before my time :( I hope not). Oh, and how could I forget the most amazing lip balm ever – Maybelline’s baby lips! This stuff is great.

For more mundane items, I have a Vaseline deodorant and hiding right in the back a mini dry shampoo. For bath things, I totally forgot to photograph my mini Balance Me shower gel, along with some great Halo deodorant wipes, which are fab for a little refreshing. I also have a mini Vaseline body moisturiser along with some hair bobbles, hair grips, toothpaste and a toothbrush! Can’t forget the essentials now can we!

Lush Review: Golden Egg Bath Bomb

I got so excited to try my Golden Egg bath bomb, come on its gold and glittery! To be honest, I was a bit dubious about the glitter as I didn’t fancy being covered in glitter after getting in the tub. But I thought ‘Just go for it!’.

What Lush says about this product:

“A glistening golden bath melt and bath bomb rolled into one. Because of its luxurious bath melt outer layer, when you first drop this into the bath it will sink down, then bob back to the top as the bath bomb centre begins to fizz away, filling your bath water with its sumptuous honey-toffee fragrance. “

This is one truly messy bath bomb, after taking it out the packet my fingers were COVERED in glitter. I was scared my whole body would look like a disco ball by the end of the bath, but I bravely just dropped the whole thing in the water and prayed.

It sunk to the bottom and then rose back up, the bath melt layer then started to melt, while the bath bomb centre started to slowly fizzle. To my surprise the glitter wasn’t that bad in the slightest. This bath bomb was definitely one for a slow fizz, but I don’t mind as it goes with the whole ‘ambience’ of the relaxing feeling. It actually didn’t fully fizzle out until I was about 5 minutes into my bath.

After all teh fizzing my bath turned an amazing lime colour, which I wasn’t expecting, but it looked amazing! This bath bomb also produced bubbles, so that was a great add on too. Seeing as this bath bomb was made of cocoa butter and olive oil, it was very moisturising and didn’t dry out my skin at all. It smelt great too, however, I wouldn’t describe it has toffee, but very sweet – I could definitely smell the honey!

After getting out of the bath and pulling the plug some glitter residue was left, but a quick rinse with the shower head and it disappeared down the plug – leaving no stains!

Positives

-smells amazing
-makes bubbles
-the colour of the bath is great
-very moisturising and relaxing

Negatives

-glitter (I personally don’t mind glitter and didn’t think there was a whole lot but I know some people hate the stuff!)
-takes a while to fizzle out (again I don’t mind, but some people will)

Rating: 4/5

Would I repurchase: Yes!

You can get the Golden Egg bath bomb in-store and online here for £3.50.

Lush Review: Fizzbanger Bath Bomb

I’ve finally got round to using my Fizzbanger bath from Lush and oh boy was it a good one! I admit, it’s been in my drawer for a long while, so long for that the pooping candy bits actually fell off :( but it was still an amazing bath bomb!

Lush says:

A Catherine wheel of a bath bomb. It changes colour as it fizzes round the tub, crackling with popping candy as it goes and releasing first a citrussy apple and then a cinnamon, apple pie like scent with a hint of ylang ylang. Petitgrain is used in aromatherapy to calm the breathing, slow the heartbeat and reduce feelings of anxiety. Ylang ylang produces a feeling of joy, and cinnamon leaf oil helps you let go.

It definitely smells citrusy, super amazingly smelling. I loved the fact that it went from yellow, to blue, to green. The final product was an amazing green colour and to my surprise there were bubbles too!

I managed to get some amazing images this time round as it was soo sunny in my bathroom. It says that it reduces anxiety and to be honest I did feel really relaxed in the bath, so much so, that I actually wanted a little snooze! My skin also felt smooth and smelt amazing for hours. I would definitely repurchase – no doubt about it!

Fizzbanger is £3.25 and you can get it from in store or on their website here.

P.S. While we are on the subject of their website – it has changed! It takes a lot of getting used too and seems a bit too large and in your face, but it’s become really helpful, showing  you what each bath bomb and bubble bar does! Take a look!
